That leaves me with either 1) Spending hundreds to have a semi-auto firing gun. Unless there's something I'm unaware of about a non-dealer being able to assemble a Sten and register it with the NFA. I'm not interested in breaking the law, so I don't want to assembly it into a full-auto gun with the parts that I have if there's no way to do it legally. Well, after doing some research, I found that to make it a legal semi-auto gun, I had to spend ~$400 on a different diameter bolt and receiver. (Out of Stock) This is a new 8' STEN MK2 barrel made in 9mm. At the time I planned to make it an inexpensive project and put it together as a semi-auto firing gun. I always thought the simplistic design looked cool, and $75 seemed cheap. i know I need to upgrade lol) by making this Sten MK 2 submachine gun. I fixed the non-responsive hop too.So I bought a Sten MK2 parts kit and a receiver kit at a gun show last year. I just installed a spring guide w bearings, changed the bushings, changed the cylinder to a type2 (MP5) and sealed all possible airleaks.

Looks like the mark 2 and 5 sten barrel is thicker than a 30-30 barrel at least where it counts. While possibly the best version of the Sten, it was not produced in large numbers.

You'll need a powerful battery to crank the powerful springs.the sten just doesn't have the space. The Mark III was an even simpler version introduced by Lines Brothers, a firm of toy makers, and was issued out by the time of the Normandy landings. Another is the extremely limited battery space. Any stiffer and there is a very high probability that your gearbox will crack. This china gearbox can take only up to a PDI 190 and M130 max safely. But things you have to remember: the sten uses a Ver7 gearbox.

Or you could use a longer barrel and install a PDI190 or M130 spring. Sten Template rev 2.pdf (8.9 KB, 48 views) Sten Template SHT 2 rev 2.pdf (6.9 KB, 39 views) TEC Tactical is a Licensed 07/02. The most common version of the Sten gun was 30 inches (76.2 cm) long with a barrel of 7.5 inches (19 cm). These are for II, NOT mine but I used them for a build. If you want to keep the barrel short, you'll have to put in a really tough spring (i'd say an M140 up) with accompanying torque up gears and a new hi torque motor. The Sten gun remained in service until the late 1950s. Not to sidetrack anyone from this forum, but WLA has posted on UZItalk in the sten/sterling forum that they are building Sten guns out of customers kits. Pistol route if I was going to build one but the cost to build is kinda expensive. Then install a spring guide with bearings. MK 2 is better since you can replace the barrel. First, you'll need to change the plastic bushings to metal ones (6mm). It has been relocated for the semi auto bolt. Please notice the different location for the charging handle. The original STEN extractor & firing pin are already installed into the IO semi-auto bolt. This is the right side of the bolts (extractor side). To get it past 400 fps will be difficult.
